History
Christian Fellowship Ministry (C.F.M.) was founded in 2012 in Cape Town, South Africa, by Michael K. Gomes. The group began in a small African art shop owned by Sister Catherine from Kenya, located at the corner of Shortmarket Street and Long Street in the Central Business District.
In the following week, the group grew as it was joined by Sister Dina, Mama and Papa Angels, Brother Thabiso, Sister Cintya, Sister Maggy, Brother Davis, and Sister Nina. As the meetings quickly outgrew the space, the group relocated to Brother Troy’s office in the Tulbagh Center Building on Hans Strijdom Avenue.
For three years, C.F.M. held intercessory prayers and Bible study twice a week, on Mondays and Fridays. During this time, the Lord placed a new calling on the group—to care for the homeless. This was the beginning of their street ministry.
The group began pooling their resources to make a difference. Brother Anthony and Sister Githa took charge of cooking large quantities of food, and the members would go into the streets to find and minister to the homeless. They encouraged, prayed for, and fed those in need. What started as a weekly outreach soon grew to twice a week, expanding to different areas around Cape Town’s CBD.
What began as a small group focused on intercessory prayer and hospitality quickly became a beacon of hope for the local community. The group dedicated itself to:
Feeding the homeless and building relationships with them.
Assisting individuals by connecting them with government shelters and rehabilitation centers.
Conducting intercessory prayers for individuals, families, and the broader community.
As the group grew in vision and membership, the Holy Spirit led them to expand their reach beyond Cape Town. This growth marked a significant transformation: C.F.M. became Worldwide Christian Fellowship Ministry (W.C.F.M.), embracing a global mission to unite believers, care for the marginalized, and proclaim the Gospel to all nations.
